Workload includes 15 credit/18contact hours of direct facilitation
of learning, 18 to 21 hours of classroom support and institutional
support with active faculty participation in each support area along
with maintaining four office hours per week.

Faculty may refuse overload when the base teaching load is met.

When the base teaching load is not met and no course is available to
assign to the faculty member, then the faculty member may be
assigned other duties, such as curriculum development. Such
assignment will be two clock hours per week for each contact hour.

Banking of any overload hours may be used to cover shortages in
another quarter within the same academic year.

Separate course preps that exceed 9 during a 3 quarter academic year
or 12 during a four quarter academic year will be compensated at one
load hour per course prep above the stated levels.

When a faculty member is under contract to provide full-time
instruction at the College, overload will not normally exceed 10
credit or 12 contact hours per quarter.

During the quarter when a faculty member is not under contract to
provide full-time instruction at the College, overload will not
normally exceed 25 credit or 30 contact hours per eleven week
session or 18 credit or 22 contact hours per eight week session.

Each hour of any teaching activity is counted as a full load hour
(credit or contact), except in the special circumstances as listed
on page 32 of the CBA.

Video course development done from scratch is compensated at the
equivalent to the credit hours of the course.

Video course development done from adaptation of an externally
licensed course is compensated at the equivalent to 0.5 of the
credit hours of the course.

Video course management compensation is continued at the rate paid
prior to the CBA.

No faculty member may be assigned a schedule that exceeds a 12 hour
span within any work day, unless the faculty member chooses to
accept a class assignment outside of these guidelines.

At least 11 hours should be scheduled from the end of one workday to
the start of the next workday, unless the faculty member chooses to
accept a class assignment outside of these guidelines.

Nursing maximum clinical ratios are 8 to 1 in the acute care
setting, 10 to 1 in all other settings, and 5 to 1 for the initial
medication administration experience.

No special load arrangements will be made between a faculty member
and administration without consultation with the NCSFA-AAUP.

Full-time faculty are not required to be on campus during time
between quarters.
