ARTICLE XIV - Emeritus

Key points are:

  • To be designated Professor Emeritus, a faculty member must have completed ten years of service at the college and have held a rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

  • Emeritus status must be requested by the faculty member or on behalf of the faculty member at the time of retirement from the college or any time after that.

  • The process consists of nomination of the faculty member, approval by the faculty of the division in which the nominee taught, recommendation of the Dean, Vice-President for Learning, and the President. Emeritus status is approved by the Board of Trustees.

  • A complete list of privileges of Professor Emeritus status is on page 22 of the collective bargaining agreement. Some privileges include:

                               *recognition at graduation

                               *listing in the college catalog

                               *college ID card

                               *use of the college library and computer labs

                               *access to the campus recreation center

                               *free access to college courses

                               *bookstore discount

                               *and others
